ALICJA PASZKIELThe Space Age Monument (Pomnik Ery Kosmicznej) is a sculpture by Jerzy Boroń commemorating human space exploration (originally: the flight of Yuri Gagarin). It was created in the late 1960s/early 1970s and is one of the few monuments of this theme preserved to this day.
A ladder is placed next to the monument, which the performer, dressed in a romantic suit with a waistcoat, climbs. The ladder is then removed. The performer loudly reads 3 oneiric (dream-like) stories, adopting a different, studied pose for each one. She speaks loudly, sporadically looking towards the audience. Then she signals for the ladder to be brought back and descends to the ground.
